Ashwagandha – Indian Ginseng
Ashwagandha, also known as Indian ginseng, is one of the most important herbs in Ayurvedic medicine in India, where it has been used for more than 4,000 years. It is an herb attributed to many positive health effects. Ashwagandha is best known for its aiding properties for fatigue and physical exhaustion as well as for maintaining focus and endurance as it can help maintain the body's resistance to stress. It is said to have a strengthening and balancing effect and can help keep levels of the stress hormone cortisol down.

Adaptogen
Ashwagandha is an adaptogen just like, for example, rose root or ginseng - but it differs markedly from other adaptogens in that it does not activate or stimulate specific functions or organs. Instead, Ashwagandha works long-term with the body's stress system, the so-called HPA axis.
